There is a UK quota for tree planting which the government are committed to meet. All trees planted through Green Earth Initiative will be in addition to any national quota, so you can be sure that any tree a customer chooses would not have been planted without your support.

The amount of CO2 a tree will offset depends on many factors, such as the type of tree, where it is planted and the amount of room it has to grow. On average, one broad leaf tree will absorb in the region of 1 tonne of carbon dioxide during its full life-time (approximately 100 years).

From a C02 perspective trees can be planted anywhere in the world. By planting trees in the UK that are in keeping with the local environments we can also add back to nature. Reinforcing, and in some cases, recreating habitats, crucial to the Red Squirrel and hundreds of other animals, birds and insects that are disappearing. These trees will improve our local and global environment for generations to come.

With the help of our tree planting partners and their local environmental knowledge, these native broad-leaved trees will be found homes where they are most needed; supplementing hedgerows, woodlands and nature reserves, parks and farmland. Please see our partner pages for more details. Typically they will select the UK region where they will be planted.

All tree donations go into our tree planting fund, and will be planted in areas identified by woodland experts and regional countryside teams. It's very important planting is expertly planned. We aim to regularly update our communications on tree planting locations that have been made possible with your amazing support.

Planting can be nearly immediate or it can take some time depending on the season. The last stage of the Green Earth Initiative is registering your tree. You will receive a confirmation email and your digital details will be sent in a separate email. But rest assure, every tree will be planted! If you have any concerns please get in touch.

Due to timing of tree planting and planning and the allocation of a courtesy car, a swap can only be changed at certain times during the initial stages of the repair, but we will always try to help if your circumstances change.

Sometimes it's difficult to reverse the process, we will work hard to ensure you have all the information you need before making a decision and we will ensure that we keep our initiative information up to date.
